Random musings

  • I've had enough of Joe Buck. First off, I'm tired of the long, lingering shots on the Budweiser logo at both stadiums, even in the damned skyscrapers with the Go Cards signs. I thought that the commercial about a home-run call was funny until I saw pre-printed signs with the slogan at Busch Stadium...and Fox showing them on purpose.
  • I'm amazed that some sort of protest hasn't occurred yet regarding Leon, the selfish athlete caricature now featured with the aforementioned Mr. Buck. Never mind that he's modelled on Barry Bonds, Terrell Owens, Deion Sanders, Joe Horn, and other real-life people; I'm just surprised. I guess hiring Jesse Jackson's sons as beer distributors buys you all kinds of favors.
  • Go Red Sox.

Joe Buck doesn't bother me too much. He wouldn't be my first choice to call the major game, but certainly not the last either.

I totally agree with that Leon character. Cannot stand him. What is surprising is that people think he's great, yet despise the likes of Barry Bonds, T.O., and the other athletes "Leon" represents.

Go Red Sox seconded.

While I have found Leon commercials funny, I don't think Leon is great. I view the commercials as mocking ego-driven athletes rather than celebrating them. Though I do understand how others may not see the commercials the same way.

But if you didn't like those commercials, you probably won't like the sitcom that's been talked about that would revolve around a Leon-type athlete.

I was the first comment, by the way.

I have not heard of the proposed sitcom. What would be the point? Are there really people who can relate to him? Nobody is watching the show about Kornheiser, and he's more like the average person than a self-absorbed, overpaid "Leon". The show will fall flat on its face.

I suppose the commercials can be seen either way, but being that the interviewer in each commercial kisses ass, I was thinking it is celebrating, and not poking fun.

Okay, let's try this again.

I posted the 1st, 3rd, and now this comment.
